Equestrian Places Fifth In Home Show

Equestrian Places Fifth In Home Show

PAXTON, MASS.- Becker College hosted the second IHSA show of the season on October 20, 2012.   Unfortunately, it rained the day before the show, making the outdoor ring a muddy mess.  However, the team had a great group of people helping them make the outdoor ring safe for both the horses and riders.  Becker College put on a very successful and exciting horse show.  The weather turned out to be beautiful and the horses were all great.  Thank you to everyone who made this horse show possible- the coaches, BCET, the IEA team, barn staff, volunteers who came to help, and especially to the people who lent us their horses to use in the show.  Becker College finished the day with 5th place overall.

Emily McGuirk rode in her first ever Open fences class, earning a second place finish.  Bridget Atkins and Jill Giovanella rode in Intermediate over fences. McGuirk also rode in Open flat and placed sixth.    Bridget earned sixth in her class and Jill finished in fourth place.   This was Jill's first time competing at an IHSA show.

Kirby Kojabashian and team captain Catherine Merrill rode in Novice fences, with Kirby placing fourth in her class and Catherine came in second place.  This was Kirby's first time competing at an IHSA show as well.  Kojabashian and Merrill also rode in Novice flat.  Kirby placed second in her class and Catherine won her flat class.

Bridget Atkins and Jill Giovanella rode in Intermediate flat with Bridget earning another sixth place ribbon in her class, while Jill earned another fourth place in hers.

Melissa Sargent, Hailee Klapproth, and Alicia Diaz, all freshmen on the team, competed in beginner walk/trot/canter.  Melissa placed fourth in her class, Alicia placed second in hers, and Hailee won her class.

Felicia Siclari, Danielle Craven, and Scott Tongue rode in the walk/trot division.  Felicia placed third in her class, Danielle placed fifth in her class, and Scott competed in the last class of the day and placed second.

Kelsey Hanrahan and Jess Banta rode in the Alumni fences and flat classes.  This division is for people who have already graduated, but want to continue riding and showing in IHSA.   Kelsey and Jess were members of the equestrian team while attending Becker.  Kelsey won both the over fences class and the flat class.  Jess was fourth over fences and second on the flat.

Congratulations to all the riders who showed this weekend, especially Catherine Merrill and Hailee Klapproth for winning Becker blue.  Catherine Merrill was also High Point Rider for the Novice division.  Congratulations and thanks again to everyone who helped make our home show a success!
