On Saturday, March 16, 2013, Becker College Equestrian Team attended the second horse show of the spring semester at Windcrest Farm in Hebron, Connecticut. The show was held indoors. It was a long, cold day, but the team rode great and finished the day in 5th place.
Emily McGuirk competed in Open, which is the highest division. She placed 4th over fences and 3rd on the flat.
Catherine Merrill, Kirby Kojabashian, Larissa Melia, Haley Becker, and Terise Cole competed in the Novice division. Catherine, who is captain of BCET, placed 6th over fences and then won her flat class. This gave her enough points in novice flat to qualify for regionals. From now on she'll compete in Intermediate flat, which is one level higher than Novice. Kirby placed 2nd in her over fences class and placed 5th on the flat. Larissa placed 3rd over fences and was 2nd in her flat class. Haley won her jumping class and placed 3rd in her flat class. Terise had a great day and won both her jumping class and her flat class. Since Terise was the only rider at the entire show who won both their jumping and flat classes that day, she was awarded High Point Rider, which is a huge accomplishment! Congratulations Terise!!!
Hailee Klapproth, Jess Goeller, and Nicole Smeaton showed in the walk/trot/canter division. Hailee competed in the advanced class and placed 5th. Jess and Nicole competed in the beginner classes. Jess won her class and Nicole placed 3rd in hers.
Justin Gilbert, Danielle Craven, Brooke Cote, Stephanie Hanson, and Scott Tongue compete in the walk/trot division. Justin placed 3rd in his class, Danielle placed 2nd in her class, Brooke placed 4th, Stephanie placed 2nd in her class, and Scott placed 3rd. Scott's 3rd place finish in his class gave him enough points to point out of the walk/trot division and into the beginner walk/trot/canter division. He also qualified for regionals which will take place on Saturday, March 23rd at Mystic Valley Farm in Connecticut.
Kelsey Hanrahan and Jess Banta showed in the alumni division for Becker College. Kelsey was 2nd over fences and won her flat class. Kelsey qualified for Regionals and Zone Finals this weekend. Jess placed 3rd in both her classes.
Congratulations Haley Becker, Terise Cole, Catherine Merrill, and Jess Goeller on their 1st place Becker blues! Once again, congratulations to Terise Cole for being High Point Rider of the day! Also, great job Catherine Merrill and Scott Tongue for qualifying for regionals!
