PAXTON, Mass. and GLADYS, Va. – In the newest sport to go digital, some members of the Hawks equestrian program recently participated in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Spring Showcase II, powered by DigitalHorseShow.com.
Sophomore Kylie Bulger (North Brookfield, Mass.) placed second in the pre-novice flat, while her teammate, freshman Joe Ressler (North Reading, Mass.) came in fifth place in the same event.
Junior Jessica Santoro (Higganum, Conn.) also placed in her event, claiming fourth place in the novice flat.
The IHSA virtual show brought together some of their 400 participating colleges and universities, and 10,000 members over several events.
For the Hawks trio, the competition was large and competitive, with all three placing in the top-five in their respective events.
In this digital format, riders were given a test that needed to be memorized and performed on a variety of categories including execution, horsemanship, position, and overall riding of the horse. These tests were then filmed by the coaching staff and sent to the IHSA for review.
Riders from around the country participated in the IHSA Spring Showcase II, which was held from March 22 to March 31.
The Hawks equestrian team is off to Mount Holyoke on Sunday morning as they participate in their first live event in 407 days.
