GAME SUMMARY

The game-winning goal started with a puck battle in the right-wing corner of the Hawks defensive zone. Colonels sophomore Timmy Kent (Parkland, Fla.) won that battle in the corner and slid a perfect pass to Curran, skating in the high slot of the Hawks zone.

Curran took the pass in rhythm, fired a wrist shot from in between the circles, and beat Hawks senior goalie Zach Skop (Pittstown, N.J.) on the blocker side to give Curry a 3-2 lead.

The Hawks pulled Skop in the final minute and had one last opportunity to tie the game but a pass in front of the Colonels goal from the left-wing sidewall bounced over the stick of senior Chuck Costello (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 2.6 seconds remaining, securing the victory for Curry.

Becker trailed 2-0 early in the third, but the second goal of the season by Hawks sophomore Colby Audette (Colchester, Vt.) cut the deficit in half with 12:44 remaining.

The Colonels mismanaged the puck near their blue line and a fortunate bounce for Audette gave him an opportunity on the Colonels goal from the left-wing circle.

Audette fired a snapshot past the blocker of Curry senior goalie Cody Murch (Raleigh, N.C.), making the game 2-1.

Becker tied things with 2:43 remaining in the third period on a penalty shot for Costello. The penalty shot call came courtesy of a tripping penalty on a breakaway for Costello, preventing a goal-scoring opportunity, forcing the penalty shot call.

Costello came in slowly on his penalty shot and found some room blocker side on Murch to tie things at 2-2 on Costello's second goal of the season.

  • Costello finished with a team-high five shots on goal.
