GAME SUMMARY

Curry broke the scoreless game midway through the first period with sophomore Mark Zhukov (St. Petersberg, Russia) scoring his second of the season.

The Colonels won an offensive zone faceoff and a cross-ice seam pass from the left-wing circle by junior Mike Pellegrini (Markham, Ontario, Canada) found Zhukov in the right-wing circle. Zhukov's wrister went off the crossbar and down into the net for a 1-0 Curry lead.

The Colonels doubled their lead just about four minutes later thanks to a defensive zone turnover by the Hawks. Curry sustained an aggressive forecheck, eventually winning the puck behind the Hawks goal.

Sophomore Austin Whelen (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada) slid a pass from behind the Hawks goal to junior Tarek Paranica (Grand Forks, N.D.) in between the circles. Paranica's wrist shot went under the blocker of Hawks senior goalie Zach Skop (Pittstown, N.J.), giving Curry a 2-0 lead.

Curry added to their lead in the second period on a quickly developing 2-on-1 for freshman Timmy Kent (Parkland, Fla.) and senior Eetu Selanne (Coto de Caza, Calif.).

Selanne entered the Hawks zone and feathered a backhand saucer pass across the Hawks crease, finding Kent on the open side of the goal for his first career collegiate goal and a 3-0 advantage.

A third period, power-play goal by sophomore Nicholas Favaro (Vaughn, Ontario, Canada) finished off the scoring in a Colonels 4-0 win.
