NASHUA, N.H. – Tatiana Mojica (Worcester, Mass.) registered game-highs of 25 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and added six assists guiding Becker past host Daniel Webster, 66-58 Saturday in a NECC contest.
Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, Conn.) added 12 points and nine boards and Elizabeth McNiff (Leominster, Mass.) notched 11 points with five boards, three assists, two block and two steals as the Hawks (4-8, 4-2 NECC) topped the Eagles for only the second time in the 15th all-time meeting between the two programs. Becker last topped DWC in January 2009.
Haley Ooms (Valatie, N.Y.) chipped in with seven points, seven boards, a game-high eight assists, two blocks and two steals.
Ashley Giampetruzzi (Manchester, N.H.) led the Eagles (5-7, 3-3 NECC) with 24 points and just missed a double double with nine rebounds, while Katherine Johnson (Manchester) pitched in with 16 points, seven caroms, three blocks, two steals and a pair of assists.
Ashley England (Old Town, Maine) added 12 points for the hosts.
DWC led only once at 11-9 early on and Becker took early momentum in the first half on 13-4 run including two layups from Mojica to build a 22-15 lead before the Eagles cut it to five at the break (29-24).
Becker pushed the lead back out to as many as 13 (46-33) at the 15:07 mark of the second after a Chila layup but DWC chipped away to get the lead down to six four times, the last coming on an England layup that made it a 60-54 game with 4:32 left.
But four missed shots and two turnovers doomed DWC's comeback hopes over the next three minutes while Becker went to the line going 5 for 6 down the stretch including a pair from McNiff that pushed it to 11 (65-54) with 1:19 to go.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday as they visit Elms for a NECC meeting at 7:00 p.m. Becker hosts NECC foe Lesley Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
