GAME SUMMARY
Tied 3-3 late in the third period, Snow picked the right time for her first career goal, the eventual game-winner, that gave USM a 4-3 lead.
The play started with sophomore Amanda Crowley (South Yarmouth, Mass.) carrying the puck into the offensive zone down the right-wing. Crowley advanced the puck to Snow as they crossed into the offensive zone.
Snow evaded a Hawks stick check with a cut to the middle of the ice and snapped a shot into the top corner and over the glove of Hawks sophomore goalie Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) to give USM the late lead.
USM trailed 3-2 in the third period but managed to tie things 3-3 on a deflection by freshman Zoe Solomons (Saugus, Mass.).
Controlling the puck at the left point was sophomore Jordan Colbert (Manomet, Mass.), who fired a snapshot toward the net that was deflected by Solomons and past the blocker side of Lee, tying the game 3-3.
Sophomore Maddy Young (Westford, Vt.) added an empty-net, power-play goal in the final seconds en route to the 5-3 Huskies victory.
USM led 2-1 entering the third period, but a pair of Hawks goals scored early in the period, only 2:42 apart gave them a 3-2 edge early in the third.
The tying goal came on a breakaway goal by sophomore Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, Mass.). The play began with a stretch pass out of the defensive zone from junior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.).
That pass bounced through the neutral zone and was knocked out of the air by Wozniak, who broke free of the defense and fired a wrist shot past Huskies freshman goalie Haley McKim (Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada) to tie the game 2-2.
Becker would take a 3-2 lead on the second goal of the season by junior Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.). Freshman Amy MacGlashing (Marlborough, Mass.) started the play with a great cut toward the middle of the ice at the offensive blue line, picking up speed and rushing past the defense.
MacGlashing was hooked down and on a delayed penalty call, the puck slid behind the net to sophomore Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) who passed to Conway at the top of the crease. Conway redirected the pass into the net, past the blocker of McKim to take a 3-2 lead.
Hawks sophomore Shelby Reaugh (Raleigh, N.C.) opened the scoring midway through the first period with her first goal of the season, giving Becker a 1-0 lead.
The Huskies broke through in the second period, scoring two goals in 1:32 by juniors Chelsea Skluzacek (Crosslake, Minn.) and Julianne Nelson (Armstrong, British Columbia, Canada) to take a 2-1 lead.
