MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Three first period goals for the Becker Hawks helped them control the game throughout as they defeated the Anna Maria AMCATS 4-0 on Friday night in exhibition play.

GAME SUMMARY
The Hawks piled up three goals in the opening period over the course of 7:15 to take control of the exhibition match.
Hawks junior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) got the scoring started for the Hawks midway through the first period to give Becker a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Nikki DeCola (New Haven, Conn.) gave Becker a 2-0 lead. Her goal came 3:32 after Ravenelle opened the scoring.
A power-play goal by sophomore Shelby Reaugh (Raleigh, N.C.) with 23.1 seconds left in the period lifted the Hawks to a three-goal advantage after the opening period.
A third period, short-handed goal for sophomore Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) made it 4-0 Hawks on their way to the exhibition victory.
Defensively, the Hawks held the AMCATS to 10 shots on goal, all saved by sophomore Maddy Morgan (Riverside, Calif.) on her way to the shutout.
FOR THE HAWKS
- Reaugh added two assists on the night, giving her three points in the win. Ravenelle and DeCola finished with one goal and one assist for a two-point night.
- Senior Katherine Capobianco (North Andover, Mass.), juniors Gabby Petrisin (High Bridge, N.J.) and Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.), and first-year Karina Laxton (Holbrook, N.Y.) all picked up one assist on the night.
- Puumala led the team with 13 shots on goal. In total, the Hawks fired 46 shots on net.
FOR THE AMCATS
- Junior Riley Cote (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the AMCATS with four shots on goal.
- Sophomore goalie Julia Smith (Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada) made 42 saves for Anna Maria.
UP NEXT
The two teams return to play on Saturday in the second half of a home-and-home series between Becker and Anna Maria. The Hawks host the AMCATS at the Worcester Ice Center with puck drop set for 8:20 p.m.
