LEICESTER, Mass. – After becoming the second player in women's ice hockey program history to finish with at least five points in a single game, junior Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) has been named the Becker Athlete of the Week, for the week ending Feb. 21.
In a Saturday night, 6-1 win against Anna Maria, Conway finished with two goals and three assists, becoming only the second player to have at least five points in a single game in program history.
Conway scored twice in the opening period and added two assists in the opening 20 minutes, matching a program-best mark for points in a single period with four.
In that same first period, the Hawks scored their second and third goals just 14 seconds apart, setting another program record for the shortest time between goals in the program's history.
Conway joins Gina Beth Manganiello as the only players in program history with at least five points in a single game and four points in a period. Manganiello accomplished her feat back in 2016.
Conway now leads the team with seven points (4G, 3A) on the season and is up to 48 career points, tied for the second-most in program history and five points shy of matching the career record set by Claudia Gee ('19) of 53 points.
The Hawks picked up an exhibition win on Friday at Anna Maria, 4-0, at the New England Sports Complex.
Becker returns to the ice on Feb. 26 and 27 with a home-and-home series against New England College.
