LEICESTER, Mass. – Hawks senior Kyra Teixeira (Old Lyme, Conn.) continues to pile up the post-season honors after being named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Second Team on Thursday night.
The announcement of Teixeira's nomination to the NEWISA Second Team adds to her list of accomplishments this season that include; the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year, a member of the All-NECC First Team, a four-time NECC Player of the Week, a NEWISA Senior Bowl Selection, and a United Soccer Coaches All-Scholar Third Team.
Teixeira led the NECC in goals and points this season, racking up 18 and 44, respectively. Her eight assists were tied for second-most in the conference in 2019.
It's the second straight season a member of the program has found their way to the All-NEWISA teams. Last season, Lindsey Keith appeared on the NEWISA Third Team for the Hawks.
Teixeira is the only player from the NECC to make the All-NEWISA teams this season. MIT led all programs with six players selected, Springfield and WPI each had four players selected among the three All-NEWISA teams.
NEWISA covers all six New England states and comprises First-, Second-, and Third-Team selections for all three Divisions of the NCAA.
