GAME SUMMARY
The game's opening goal came from freshman Ryan Baghdassarian (Commack, N.Y.) in the first minute of the match. On a cross from the left-side, Baghdassarian's pass deflected off a body in front and past Knights goalie Jonathan Chasse to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
Becker had a chance to extend the lead in the 41st minute on a penalty kick taken by senior Colby Koch (Norfolk, Mass.) but Chasse made a great save on a fully extended dive to his left to keep the score 1-0.
More chances came in the second half for Becker, the best of which was a breakaway opportunity for sophomore Alfredo Alvarez (Romulus, Mich.) in the final minutes.
Alvarez was played in behind the Knights backline and broke toward the goal, but an unsettled ball would never sit flat, and his attempt would go high.
In the last minute, the Hawks got some redemption with another shot at a penalty kick, this time taken by freshman Adam Stanneck (Washington, N.J.).
Stanneck froze the Knights goalie, Rayane Razzouk, on the attempt, as Stanneck's shot found the left side of the net, on the way to the 2-0 win.
FOR THE HAWKS
- Baghdassarian and Stanneck both scored their first career collegiate goals in the 2-0 win.
- Freshman Luke Speers (Collegeville, Pa.) picked up his first career collegiate win, making five saves in the shutout.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Andrew Valdez and Cooper Ribaudo tied for the team-high in shots on goal, each with two.
- Chasse made two saves for the Knights while Razzouk made three. Chasse took the loss and falls to 0-1-0.
