GAME ONE: Becker 11 – Lesley 10 (Final/8 Innings)
Late-game offense and clutch pitching in game one helped the Hawks recover to win 11-10 over the Lesley Lynx.
The Hawks held a 5-0 lead headed to the bottom of the fourth when the Lynx offense exploded for 10 runs to take control of the game.
The 10-run bottom of the fourth included three different run-scoring doubles and a pair of two-run home runs by junior Antonia Kieran (Wilmington, Mass.).
Following Kieran's second home run of the inning, the Hawks made a pitching change to Fallon, a move that would prove to be the perfect start to the comeback.
After a scoreless fifth, the Hawks cut into the deficit in the top of the sixth, scoring one run on the benefit of an error before capping off the top of the sixth with a two-run home run by Hawks sophomore Holly Letourneau (Woonsocket, R.I.) to make it 10-8.
In the top of the seventh, an RBI groundout by sophomore Lindsay Mitchell (Billerica, Mass.) put the Hawks within a run. Two batters later, an RBI single by senior Elizabeth Simonian (Auburn, Mass.) tied the game at 10-10.
Forcing extra innings, a sacrifice fly off the bat of freshman Jillana Stevens (Farmington, N.H.) in the top of the eighth proved to be the game-winning run as Fallon remained perfect for the Hawks in their 11-10 win.
---
For Becker, the final line on Fallon's afternoon was 4.1 innings of perfect pitching, allowing no hits, no walks, facing 13 batters and allowing no runners on base. Letourneau and Stevens both batted 3-for-4 in the first game.
For Lesley, Kieran, and junior Ilana Zack (Randolph, Mass.) finished 3-for-4, both with two runs scored. Kieran's two home runs gave her four RBI in the game.
Winning Pitcher: Sheree Fallon (1-1)
Losing Pitcher: Kara Haga (1-1)
GAME TWO: Lesley 7 – Becker 3
In the second game, the offense for the Lynx and Hawks came quick and early as Lesley forced a split of Saturday's doubleheader with Becker.
In the bottom of the first, the Lynx did their damage with two outs in the inning thanks to an RBI double by senior Riley Pickett (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and RBI triple by Zack to take a 2-0 lead.
Another RBI triple in the bottom of the second by junior Mahlia Medina (Temecula, Calif.) lifted the Lynx to a 3-0 edge.
The Hawks got on the board in the top of the third with the second home run of the afternoon by Letourneau, this time a three-run shot, tying the game at 3-3.
But the Hawks lead was short-lived as Zack answered with a home run of her own, a two-run shot, to put Lesley back ahead 5-3. A passed ball later in the bottom of the third would help the Lynx regain their three-run lead.
Lesley added one more run in the fifth on an RBI double by junior Sam Jensen (Milton, Mass.) on their way to the 7-3 win and split of the doubleheader.
---
For Lesley, Zack again batted 3-for-4, finishing just a double shy of the cycle. Zack added three RBI and a run scored. The Lynx finished with seven extra-base hits in game two.
For Becker, Letourneau's game two home run gives her four home runs on the season, matching the team-high in homers.
