Eliza Kelley

Eliza Kelley is back for her sixth season on the bench and has been the head coach of the Becker College women's ice hockey program since its inception in July 2014.

In 2019-20, Kelley coached the Hawks to a 7-16-3 record, the second-most wins in program history, trailing only the 2016-17 season of eight wins.

Underclassmen made their mark on the program in 2019-20 as several players made their way into the single-season scoring record books and were recognized by the Colonial Hockey Conference at the end of the season.

Second-year player Clare Conway became the program's single-season record holder for points in a season, finishing with 26 points in 26 games. Another second-year player, Kylian Kelly, became the program's all-time leader in points by a defenseman.

The first-year duo of Katie Puumala and Cassidhe Wozniak showed incredible offensive potential, finishing the season with 24 and 19 points, respectively. Both point totals sit inside the top-five single-season point totals for a player in program history.

Puumala's 11-goal, 13-assist season resulted in her being named the CHC Rookie of the Year, the first major CHC Award for any Hawks women's ice hockey player in team history.

While Puumala and Wozniak showed offensive upside, first-year goalies Madelyn Morgan and Amber Lee both showed their abilities to anchor the Hawks goal. Morgan finished the season with a 4-7-2 record with a GAA of 2.44 and a save percentage of .937. Lee finished her first season with the Hawks with a 3-9-1 record with a 2.52 GAA and a .926 save percentage.

By season's end, Puumala, Wozniak, and Morgan were all named to the CHCs All-Rookie Team for the 2019-20 season.

Prior to Becker, Kelley spent four years as the full-time assistant coach for Utica College. Over the course of four seasons on the bench, she helped guide the Pioneers to a 56-43-6 overall record as well as three ECAC Women’s West Conference Tournament semifinal appearances. During the 2013-2014 season, Kelley and the Pioneers reached ninth in the national rankings poll. Kelley also played an intricate role in the development of Utica College graduate Megan Myers, who was a four-year All-ECAC selection and a CCM All-American selection in 2013.

Kelley graduated from Utica College in the Spring of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a concentration in Human Resource Management. Kelley also earned an MBA in Economic Crime in 2014. As an undergraduate at UC, Kelley played three full seasons on the women's hockey team before taking an assistant coach position in her senior campaign. During her time as a player, Kelley was an ECAC Women's West All-Academic Team selection and helped guide her team to three consecutive ECAC West Conference Tournament appearances.

Kelley has coached a variety of age groups and sits as a camp director at the CAN/AM Hockey Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Originally from Rutland, Vt., Kelley played prep school hockey at Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut.
