LEICESTER, Mass. --- Junior forward Mateus Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Colegio Pedroso e Oliveira) of the Becker College men's basketball team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) for the week ending December 8, 2019.
Ribeiro continued his outstanding play this past week, leading the Hawks to back-to-back wins over Clark and Anna Maria. The junior averaged 19.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, all while shooting 60 percent from the floor. Facing the Cougars on Tuesday, Ribeiro scored 22 points with 15 rebounds - both career-highs - in a 69-54 victory. Then against the AMCATs on Thursday, the junior scored 16 points with nine boards and five assists to spark a 66-56 win. Ribeiro played every minute of both contests, averaging 40 minutes per game for the week.
At press time, Ribeiro was ranked seventh in the nation in double-doubles with five and fifth in the nation in total minutes.
Ribeiro was also named the Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Player of the Week for the same period. He was further named the Becker Athlete of the Week for the same period, the second week in a row he has been so recognized.

The Hawks return to play on Dec. 10 with a non-conference road game at Bridgewater State with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
