CHICOPEE, Mass. – Blazers senior Regina LaBlanc (Enfield, Conn.) scored a game-high 20 points and added nine rebounds as the Elms Blazers won their opening game of the season with a 55-38 victory over the Becker Hawks on Friday night.

GAME SUMMARY
The Blazers got out to a sizeable lead in the first half by shooting 56 percent from the floor while holding Becker to just 35 percent shooting through 20 minutes. LaBlanc had 14 points for the Blazers in the opening 20 minutes as Elms held a 31-16 at halftime.
Elms led by as many as 21 in the third quarter but the Hawks used a 16-6 run between the third quarter and early fourth quarter to cut the margin to 11 points.
The Blazers locked down defensively in the final quarter, holding the Hawks to 4-of-13 shooting in the fourth quarter to maintain their advantage.
FOR THE HAWKS
- Freshman Chloe LaPierre (Plainfield, Conn.) led the Hawks with 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting in a full 40 minutes.
- Senior Jazlyn Contreras (Westport, Mass.) chipped in eight points, five assists, and three steals while sophomore Tarra Coppinger (South Yarmouth, Mass.) added seven points.
FOR THE BLAZERS
- LaBlanc added four assists and two steals to her 20-point night.
- First-year Rahmia Johnston (Trumbull, Conn.) scored nine points in 11 minutes. Junior McKenzie Huria (Terryville, Conn.) added eight points in 13 minutes.
