Women's Basketball Finishes Season With Loss at Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. – Seahawks senior Mary Rorke (Norton, Mass.) scored a game-high 19 points while freshman Briana Neary (Wayne, N.J.) scored a career-high 17 points as the Salve Regina Seahawks defeated the Becker Hawks 73-37 on Tuesday night.

GAME SUMMARY

In the opening quarter, Salve Regina put up 16 points on 5-of-15 shooting and 4-of-6 from the line. Neary scored 10 of the Seahawks 16 in the quarter.

The Seahawks improved their shooting in the second quarter, hitting on 7-of-13 from the floor, including 3-for-8 from beyond the arc as the Seahawks led 36-11 at halftime.

In the third, Salve Regina outscored the Hawks 22-13, again improving on their scoring with 8-of-15 shooting and 4-of-7 from three-point territory.

The Hawks did the majority of their damage in the second half, but the Seahawks outscored them in all four quarters on their way to the win.

 

FOR THE HAWKS

  • Freshman McKinley White (Southwick, Mass.) scored a career-high 10 points to go with five rebounds.
  • Senior Jazlyn Contreras (Westport, Mass.) also scored 10 points for Becker.

 

FOR THE SEAHAWKS

  • Neary shot 6-for-9 from the floor in her career-high 17 points. She added nine rebounds on the night.
  • Rorke went 6-of-14, including 5-of-14 from beyond the arc. She added six rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
