LEICESTER, Mass. – Lions grad student Courtney Barba (Pismo Beach, Calif.) finished with a game-high 20 points in just 22 minutes as the Eastern Nazarene Lions beat the Becker Hawks 65-50 on Saturday afternoon.
Before the start of the game, Becker recognized senior Jazlyn Contreras (Westport, Mass.) on Senior Day for her contributions to the women's basketball program. In return, Contreras came through with a career-high 18 points.

GAME SUMMARY
The Lions were out to a fast start in the first quarter, using an 11-2 run in the final 4:52 to lead 18-7 through one quarter.
Lions grad student Courtney Barba (Pismo Beach, Calif.) led scorers in the first quarter with eight points, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
The Hawks opened the second quarter cutting the deficit to three, but ENC reestablished their double-digit advantage with a 7-0 run. The Hawks finished the quarter outscoring the Lions 13-12, leaving ENC with a halftime lead of 30-20.
Barba scored 15 first half points for the Lions while Contreras added 12 for the Hawks.
Coming out of the locker room, the third quarter was even to start, but the Lions surged ahead with the help of a 13-2 run in the middle of the quarter that spanned 3:02, inflating their lead to 19 points. ENC would lead by as many as 21 as they took a 53-32 lead into the final quarter.
Despite the Hawks outscoring the Lions 18-12 in the final quarter, the offensive work done in the third by ENC kept them well ahead on their way to the 65-50 win.
FOR THE HAWKS
- Contreras played 38 minutes on the afternoon, adding four steals to her 18 points.
- Freshman Chole LaPierre (Plainfield, Conn.) also finished with 18 points. She added eight rebounds and four steals in a full 40 minutes.
- Sophomore Tarra Coppinger (South Yarmouth, Mass.) chipped in eight points.
FOR THE LIONS
- Barba was efficient from the floor, shooting 7-for-11 with her game-high 20 points.
- Junior Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) added nine points off the bench.
- The Lions shot 46.8 percent on the day, including 6-for-13 from beyond the arc.

The Hawks wrap up their season on Tuesday night with a 7:00 p.m. game at Salve Regina. The Lions press on with a home-and-home series against Wentworth on March 26 and 27.
