Hawks Fall in Saturday Women's Basketball Matinee

LEICESTER, Mass. – Falcons junior Misha O'Neal (Tampa, Fla.) scored a game-high 22 points in just 20 minutes, leading the Fisher Falcons to a 70-37 win over the Becker Hawks on Saturday afternoon.

GAME SUMMARY

The Falcons were off to a fast start, beginning the game on a 12-0 run in the opening 3:31 to lead by a dozen. O'Neal and junior Alexia Mason (Los Angeles, Calif.) each scored five points in the 12-0 start.

Fisher senior Nia Jordan (Washington, D.C.) beat the buzzer on a three-pointer from the top of the arc to end the first quarter with the Falcons leading 19-5.

The Falcons continued the offensive surge, outscoring the Hawks by five points in the second quarter to hold a 31-12 edge at halftime.

Despite the Hawks highest-scoring quarter of the game in the third, the Falcons came out of halftime and shot 7-of-12 from the floor and 5-for-5 at the line, outscoring the Hawks 20-15 in the third quarter to lead 51-27 after three.

After the half, the Falcons shot 15-for-28 from the floor adding to their advantage in each quarter, on their way to the 70-37 win.

 

FOR THE HAWKS

  • Senior Jazlyn Contreras (Westport, Mass.) scored eight points to go with three rebounds and two assists.
  • Sophomore Cymiah Patterson (Bronx, N.Y.) also finished with eight points in 32 minutes off the bench.

 

FOR THE FALCONS

  • Mason finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds, recording her third double-double of the season.
  • With her 22 points, O'Neal shot 7-of-11 from the floor, chipping in three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

 

UP NEXT

The Hawks prepare for a home-and-home series on March 19 and 20 with Eastern Nazarene. Becker travels to ENC on March 19 for a 4:30 p.m. tip. Fisher is back in action on Monday evening with a 6:00 p.m. game at Albertus Magnus.
