MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors and Becker College Hawks were locking in a close battle early, but with the help of a 15-1 scoring run spanning both halves, the Warriors pulled away from the Hawks, 21-7, on Tuesday afternoon in the Season Opener for Becker.

GAME SUMMARY
The Hawks and Warriors were locked in a close battle for the first 15 minutes of the afternoon, including Becker holding a 2-1 lead on goals by senior Arianna Calouro (East Providence, R.I.) and junior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) just minutes into the first half.
After taking the lead 6-4 with 16:45 remaining in the first half, the Warriors surged ahead with the help of eight straight goals over a span of 13:11 to lead 14-4.
For Eastern Connecticut, senior Tristan Kijak (Windsor, Conn.) and sophomore Caroline Stent (Weatogue, Conn.) both scored twice in the 8-0 run.
The Warriors took their 10-goal advantage into halftime and expanded that lead in the second half, scoring the first six goals of the half, including four goals by Stent.
Calouro and sophomore Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) capped off the scoring in the game, as the Warriors took the 21-7 victory.
FOR THE HAWKS
- Calouro and Ravenelle each scored twice for the Hawks. Ravenelle added two ground balls and three draw controls.
- Puumala, junior Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.), and sophomore Mikayla Leibowitz (Bethany, Conn.) all scored for Becker.
- Sophomore Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) and freshman Chole Isola (Oviedo, Fla.) both played a half in the Hawks goal and each finished with six saves.
FOR THE WARRIORS
- Stent finished with a game-high seven goals and added an assist on the afternoon.
- Kijak and junior Cassie Bennett (Milford, Conn.) netted four goals each. Kijak added six draw controls and three ground balls.
- Sophomore Sarah Gallagher (South Windsor, Conn.) made the start in goal for the Warriors, making six saves on the day and improving to 3-1 with the win.
