Hawks Win Fifth-Straight With 14-8 Senior Day Victory vs. Elms

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Becker Hawks claimed their fifth-straight win on Sunday afternoon with a 14-8 victory over the Elms Blazers in New England Collegiate Conference play.

Prior to the game, the Hawks recognized seniors Molly Priestly (Bellingham, Mass.), Sydney Theriault (Brookfield, Conn.), Katherine Capobianco (North Andover, Mass.), Arianna Calouro (East Providence, R.I.), and Olivia Dupree (Centerport, N.Y.)  for their contributions to the Hawks program.

GAME SUMMARY

The Hawks were in control early in the first half, scoring the first six goals of the game in the first 21 minutes to lead 6-0. Calouro scored twice for the Hawks in the early going while junior Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) scored once and assists on three of the Hawks goals.

The Blazers scored their only goal of the half with 8:19 remaining on a goal from sophomore Taylor Borla (Southington, Conn.) to cut the deficit to 6-1, as that score held until the half.

Elms started a comeback early in the second half, scoring twice in the first five minutes to trail by three. Borla and sophomore Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, Mass.) netted the goals for the Blazers, who trailed 6-3.

Becker responded quickly with two goals in 42 seconds with junior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) and Conway putting the Hawks back ahead by five.

Elms again got within three goals on goals by Pikul and freshman Elise Paier (West Springfield, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 8-5.

But the Hawks outscored the Blazers 7-3 in the final 12:54, including three goals by Conway, as the Hawks continued their winning streak, now sitting at five games in the 14-8 victory.

 

FOR THE HAWKS

  • Conway finished with five goals and three assists. She added four draw controls, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
  • Ravenelle and Calouro both finished with hat tricks. Ravenelle added an assist in the win.
  • Capobianco added a team-high five caused turnovers for the Hawks.
  • Freshman Chloe Isola (Oviedo, Fla.) made six saves and improves to 6-4 with the win.

 

FOR THE BLAZERS

  • Pikul finished with a hat trick and one assist. She added four draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls.
  • Borla scored a pair for the Blazers while adding six draw controls.
  • Junior Emma Walsh (Dracut, Mass.) made 10 saves but falls to 2-2 in the loss.
