GAME SUMMARY
With the Pilgrim leading 2-1, it was Becker that surged ahead with the game's first scoring run, netting four-in-a-row over the course of 4:30, in the middle of the first half, to grab a 5-2 lead. Hawks junior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) scored twice in the run that gave a three-goal edge to the Hawks.
New England responded later in the half, scoring the next three goals to tie the game 5-5. Pilgrims junior Lauren Rich (Plaistow, N.H.) scored two goals in the process, including a man-down goal.
The final two goals of the half belonged to Becker as junior Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) put the Hawks back in front 6-5 while a goal with 22 seconds remaining in the half by senior Arianna Calouro (East Providence, R.I.) put Becker ahead 7-5, at the half.
The Hawks grabbed the first two goals of the second half to surge ahead by four. Senior Molly Priestly (Bellingham, Mass.) got on the board with a man-up goal. Ravenelle added the next goal for the Hawks as they led 9-5.
NEC fought back with three goals in 4:05 to cut the deficit to one. Senior Alexandria Safford (Burnt Hills, N.Y.), freshman Nathalie Antigua (North Brunswick, N.J.), and grad student Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H.) all scored as the Pilgrims trailed 9-8.
Back-to-back goals for Kelly came next, including a man-up goal, that gave the Hawks an 11-8 advantage.
Antigua scored again for the Pilgrims to cut the deficit to a pair, but Ravenelle netted her own back-to-back goals to give Becker a 13-9 lead with 10:02 remaining.
NEC could only cut that final deficit in half as goals by Nelson and Antigua would not be enough to defeat the Hawks, as Becker went on to the 13-11 win.
