Hawks Drop Sunday Matinee at Saint Joseph's College

STANDISH, Maine. – Monks senior Lydia Dexter (Oakland, Maine) exploded for five goals and seven assists, factoring in a dozen of the Monks 17 goals in their victory over the Becker Hawks on Sunday afternoon, 17-5.

GAME SUMMARY

In a close match for much of the first half, the Monks surged ahead over the final 6:19 of the half, scoring the final four goals of the first to lead 9-4 at halftime.

Four different Monks scored the final four goals of the half for SJC, helping them to the five-goal lead through the first half.

The scoring run would continue for the Monks on the other side of halftime as SJC opened the half with the first five goals over the span of 10:23 to grow their lead to 14-4. Dexter and Monks senior Josie Ring (Newfield, Maine) both scored twice in the five-goal, second half run, that put the Monks up by 10.

The Monks outscored the Hawks 8-1 in the second half with Becker junior Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) scoring the lone second half goal for the Hawks.

 

FOR THE HAWKS

  • Senior Arianna Calouro (East Providence, R.I.) and junior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) each scored twice for the Hawks, including each scoring one goal while the Hawks were a player down.
  • Junior Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished with three ground balls and a team-high four caused turnovers.
  • Freshman goalie Chloe Isola (Oviedo, Fla.) made nine saves on the day, but the loss drops her to 1-2 this season.

 

FOR THE MONKS

  • Six different players scored twice for the Monks, including a three-goal day for freshman Carson Battaglia (Gorham, Maine)
  • Ring had a game-high six ground balls while Dexter added five caused turnovers in addition to her 12 points.
  • Freshman Heather Rohr (Merrimack, N.H.) two saves for SJC, picking up her first career win.

The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Albertus Magnus for a 4:00 p.m. game while the Monks host Norwich on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
