NECC Announces Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Award Winners

New England Collegiate Conference Release

LEICESTER, Mass. and MANSFIELD, Mass. – Hawks juniors Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) and Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished off the regular season in style and have been named the New England Collegiate Conference Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively, as announced by the league office this afternoon, and voted on by the women's lacrosse coaches of the conference.

Hawks Head Coach Stephanie Blakely was also awarded the NECC Coach of the Year, after leading the Hawks to a 6-4 record, including 5-1 in the NECC.

Meanwhile, junior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) was named to the All-Conference First Team Midfield.

In six conference games for Conway, she scored 38 goals and had 26 assists for 64 points. The points and assists were the most in the NECC while the 38 goals were the second-highest in the conference.

Conway was a two-time NECC Offensive Player of the Week award winner and won the NECC Rookie of the Year in 2019. She was also named to the All-Conference First Team Attack for this season.

In total, Conway made 10 appearances for the Hawks, leading the team in goals (38), assists (26), and points (64). In addition, Conway has climbed to the top of several season and career program records for the Hawks and is now sitting in fifth place in all-time points scored in program history with 155.

In six conference games for Kelly, she stuffed the stat sheet defensively, leading the conference in draw controls (39), caused turnovers (21), and ground balls (28). Kelly's impact was not just on the defensive end as she added 15 goals and four assists against NECC opponents.

Kelly was named the Defensive Player of the Week four times in only six weeks of naming an award recipient. Kelly was also named to the All-Conference First Team Midfield for this season.

In all, Kelly played 10 games for the Hawks, leading them in draw controls (62), caused turnovers (30), and was second in ground balls (39). She added 13 goals and eight assists and has established herself as one of the best defensive players on a per-game basis in program history.

For Ravenelle, she scored 22 goals and added 11 assists for 33 points in six conference games for the Hawks. The 22 goals were third-most in the NECC while the assists and points were good for second-best.

Ravenelle played 10 games in all this season, recording 32 goals and 18 assists for 50 points, while also becoming the 11th player in program history to reach 100 career points.

Blakely becomes the second coach in program history to be named NECC Coach of the Year after clinching the top seed in the upcoming NECC Playoffs.

The Hawks led the conference in goals against average against NECC opponents, allowing just 8.50 goals per game.

Hawks senior Sydney Theriault (Brookfield, Conn.) took away an award as well after being named to the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.

The season continues Thursday afternoon as the No. 1 seed Hawks welcome the No. 4 seed Mitchell Mariners to Alumni Field for a 4:00 p.m. faceoff. The winner of the match plays the winner of No. 2 New England and No. 3 Elms on Sunday afternoon in the NECC Championship.
